RMC student dies after alleged bullying

KUALA LUMPUR: A Form Four student of the Royal Military College in Sungai Besi died early Wednesday, after he was allegedly bullied and abused by senior students of the institution, police said.

A Defence Ministry statement said the death of Mohammad Naim Mustaqim Mohamad Sobri, 16, occurred sometime between 11.30am on Wednesday and 1.20am Thursday.

It said he was found unconscious and rushed to the Armed Forces Medical Centre at the Sungai Besi Camp but was confirmed dead soon after being brought there.

His body was then taken to the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre for a post-mortem, and a report was lodged at the Sungai Besi police station at 2am, it said.

The statement said several students who had been with Mohammad Naim Mustaqim during the incident had been called up to help in the investigation.

Cheras police deputy chief Supt Abdul Rahim Hamzah confirmed the incident and said initial investigation showed a criminal element in the death of the teenager.

The ministry said in its statement that a board of investigation had been set up to identify the cause of the boy’s death
